“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” —Confucius
Confucius was a Chinese teacher whose philosophies became known as Confucianism. Confucius’ philosophies still influence others today and have proven to be great among Chinese culture. Throughout his time, Confucius submitted words of wisdom and promoted kindness and truth among his followers.
Chances are, we are all familiar with this quote from Confucius, but I bet we didn’t actually know who said it. It seems to be passed down from generation to generation, and we probably even remember our grandfather reciting it to us from time to time. We may have even credited him for the quote, but it was actually Confucius who said it and who our grandfather was actually quoting himself.
TEA of Life Podcast is passionate about loving our life, and we are passionate about empowering you to love your life as well. We believe that we are allowed and even encouraged by our creator to love our life. We believe that we were not created to live a life of grim negligence but to live a life that we can look back on and say, “Well done!”
Living a life that we are passionate about is not something that we should ever feel guilty for wanting. There is something planted deep inside of us all that desires more, better, best, and I am not talking about the “more, better, best” that society tells us to desire such as more money, better cars; the best over what our neighbors have. These are all material items that we tend to turn to in order to fill the emptiness that we feel inside because we are not pursuing our passions and living passionately. These things will all pass away. We are talking about the more of what life has to offer; the better state of mind and understanding of what we can hope for, and being the best that we can be to ourselves and our family. This is not something that can be measured by societal equations. This is something that only we can measure for ourselves.
I have many post-it notes on my mirror reminding me to think only on and continue to live out what I am passionate about, and this quote hangs among them. I would go as far as to change the quote to say, “Choose a job that you are passionate about, and you will never have to work a day in your life,” or, “Choose to do what you are passionate about, and you will never regret a moment of your life,” and something tells me that Confucius wouldn’t mind me doing that at all.
